It´s not often that a commercial movie complex in Playa del Carmen has independent, foreign, or experimental films showing, even less made available to a public audience for free. But that is exactly what has been happening in Playa del Carmen with the 5th edition of the Riviera May Film Festival.
Over a period of 7 days, Playa has been host to this spectacular event that brings together directors, actors, screenwriters, film critics, distributors, and agents to one place. Conferences, workshops, industry events, and other events have been available for those looking to learn more about the art, craft and business of film.
One of the best things for residents of Valle Bambu is the close proximity to one of the festival’s main screening zone and headquarters, the Cinemex complex located inside of the Centro Maya shopping mall, a shopping mall that has become a gathering point for the nearby communities and a place where families can gather and enjoy food, entertainment and shopping all under one roof.
Further screenings are being held in Tulum, Puerto Morelos and Cancun, so attendees who travel to the screening points will get to see the variety of places to live here in the Riviera Maya. This festival is a great way to bring the magic of cinema to everyone, and residents of Valle Bambu are privileged to live so close of one of the main venues.
The most important screenings and events were held in the new Teatro de la Ciudad, located in an area known as ‘la cruz de servicios’. Located just 10 minutes away from Valle Bambu, this area has been planned to become the new center of town, with a new city hall (currently under construction) and other public offices. It is also in this area where the ‘casa de la cultura’ (arts & culture hall) is located, as well as other services.
So, if you’re still looking for good reasons to make of Valle Bambu your home, think about the many benefits of living in this privileged area. And, who knows? Maybe you will be able to enjoy the screenings and events of the Riviera Maya
